One of my favorite ways to incorporate journaling onto any layout is to create my own notebook paper from ledger patterned paper using a die cutting machine or notebook paper punch. I die-cut the decorative edge on the ledger paper and then I added a title and sub-title to the page by stamping with word stamps. By using colorful ink and adding detailing with a glitter pen, this gives the illusion of a pre-made journaling spot. Computer generated journaling finishes the design.

Journaling Card Tip

If you plan to include typed journaling on your card (rather than hand-written), make sure to print the journaling before you die-cut, tear, or distress any edges of your journaling card. Your printer will thank you.

Project Life is such a great way to record those daily bits and pieces of life. It involves taking a photo a day and scrapbooking those photos—one week per spread—using divided page protectors rather than traditional 12 x 12 pages. So why not create custom themed journaling cards for your Project Life album or any scrapbook layout? Take any plain journaling cards and dress them up with stamped images and/or words. I created a trio of love-themed stamped journaling cards that will work for many different occasions—Valentine’s Day, your anniversary, or any time you’re feeling the love.

I’m always a big fan of using label stickers on my scrapbook layouts. However, I don’t always have the right color or size of label for my page. By using label stamps and their coordinating die cuts, you will never run out of your favorite label sticker ever again! And it’s super easy to create custom labels that are the perfect color by simply changing the ink you use. To create the multi-colored floral label, I colored in the stamp with markers before stamping onto the die-cut shape I had previously cut from cardstock. Create a whole bunch of these at one time so you’ll have them on hand for quick and easy scrapbooking!

Custom Stamped File Folders

Digital die cutting machines are a great way to create just the right sized journaling cards and tags for any scrapbook layout. Using my Silhouette Cameo, which allows me to select the size of my finished shape before, I die cut several file-folder-shaped journaling tags from ledger patterned paper and customized them with simple stamping. By adding stamping to these die cut tags, you have personalized tags that suit your style and are ready to add to any project.
