April's Scrapbooker Spotlight

Stephanie Howell, before the twins arrived
eZine image:

This month, we invited the talented Stephanie Howell to be our cover girl. Impressed by her fantastic sense of color, creative product combinations, compelling photography, and meaningful journaling, we couldn't resist putting her work on display in our April eZine. (If you'd like

to follow in Stephanie's footsteps, keep an eye out for our next cover contest by checking this page.) Take it away, Stephanie!

My name is: Stephanie Howell

My family is made up of: Sadie (age 2), Harper (age 3), me, and my husband Jimmy.

I spend my days: running around after Harper and Sadie and being Major Jimmy Howell's wife. I never thought I'd be an army wife, but I love this life.
~And, on top of all of that, she's a natural poet!

The Cover Layout

Supplies:cardstock (Bazzill) • patterned paper (Crate Paper) • butterflies, journaling label (Jenni Bowlin) • letter stickers, journaling pen (American Crafts) • border punch, doily journaling die cuts (Martha Stewart) • apron lace punch • 12 x 12 layout by Stephanie Howell

My cover layout was inspired by: Spring! I'm obsessed with scrapping bright, happy colors right now, not to mention those Jenni Bowlin Studios butterflies that I use on every single layout! I definitely have spring fever.
~Those butterflies are in high demand! The orange color was sold out everywhere, so for this month's cover shot, we made our own using die-cuts and rhinestones. How'd we do?

I've been scrapbooking since: I was pregnant with my oldest daughter, Harper.

I'd describe my scrapbooking style as: simple, with heart.
~That description is "spot on!" as the Brits say; we'd describe her style in exactly the same way.

A Favorite Layout

I love this one because I love that I actually created a page about me, about who I really am (and am not). It just makes me happy.

Supplies: letter stickers (American Crafts) • cut out flowers (Sassafrass Lass) • paper women (Studio Calico) • 8½ x 11 layout by Stephanie Howell

If I could go back in time, I would: relive our honeymoon on Harbour Island in the Bahamas. It was so beautiful!
~If it wouldn't be too weird, we'd like to relive it with her. Those beaches look absolutely idyllic!

In 10 years, I hope to be: the wife of a colonel, with happy teenage/preteen children. I hope, no I know, that I will be happy and blessed. I can't wait!
~We're willing to bet she doesn't mean just ANY colonel, but the future Lt Colonel Jimmy Howell, of course.

People are always surprised to find out that I: am adopted.

My favorite guilty pleasure is: reality TV. It's a sickness.

I never thought I'd: scrapbook. Truly! I was never into it, and I didn't get it at all. And then one day...BOOM!!! The craft bug bit me.
~That must have been one heck of a bite.

Another Favorite Layout

This one is very simple, but it makes my heart hurt every single time I look at it.

Supplies: patterned paper (Basic Grey) • pearls, label (Jenni Bowlin) • letter stickers (American Crafts) • bow • vintage twine • number sticker (Making Memories) • 12 x 12 layout by Stephanie Howell

If I were to author an eBook, I'd title it: Scrapbooking to Save my Sanity
~Say, that sounds super spectacular!

I'm embarrassed to admit that I: am the clumsiest person alive. I can be standing in the middle of a room and just fall down, without tripping over a single thing. Some might say I'm spazzy.
~We hope her house is fully carpeted. Or covered in bubble wrap.

If I were a scrapbook supply, I'd be: Brightly colored ribbon. It's happy, kinda romantic, and it has the ability to make people smile. (Well, it makes me smile at least. I love ribbon.)

My favorite Ella eBook is: A Year in the Life: Scrapbook your year in 24 simple layouts.
~A fine choice, if we do say so ourselves.

We'd like to thank Stephanie for sharing her life with us—not to mention alerting us to the existence of Martha Stewart journaling doilies and the pink beaches of Harbour Island! For more of Stephanie's signature sweetness and style, visit her blog.
