Katie Scott, one of our Ella Friends, designed our Scrapbook Ellaments cover layout this month. We asked Katie to tell us a little bit about herself, and here’s what she had to say!
My name is: Katie Scott, when I’m wearing my scrapbooker hat. I’m also “Kathryn Fenderson Scott” the lawyer, “mommy” the mother, and "Pinkin" the wife.
I spend my days: Spinning lots of plates and wearing many hats. I am a busy working mom who has a law practice with my husband Charlie. We are busy, but I find I feel happier and more peaceful—and I get a lot more accomplished—when I fit a little bit of scrapbooking into my already busy day.
My family is made up of: Husband Charlie, son Mac, daughter Allison, dogs Duke and Dandy, and tiny hamsters Hamsty and Ally.

A Favorite Layout: I love this sweet photo of my kids. They look so happy to be together, and no one is squirting anyone else with the hose! |

I've been scrapbooking: Ever since I could use paste and scissors. I have been making scrapbooks of one kind or another since I was a child. There is a long tradition of scrapbooking in my family, and I've inherited most of them, so I’m now the family historian as well. I've been scrapbooking in the modern way with all the pretty papers and acid-free products since about 2000.
My cover layout was inspired by: The photo. I got really lucky with this one. I feel like it captures the simple things that make children happy in the summer—like popsicles, garden hoses, and playing in the backyard.
I'd describe my scrapbooking style as: Fast and fun. I love to scraplift, and I typically use bright and happy colors. But I also use scrapbooking as therapy, or to let someone know how much I love them, or as a way to visualize things I want to accomplish—I'm sort of all over the place with my scrapbooking. I try to do a little scrapbooking every day, and I'm more concerned with the mental and emotional benefits of scrapbooking than I am with what I actually create, although I’m happy when the page looks good!
My favorite Ella eBook is: So far I'm loving Text Tricks for Scrapbookers and have created several layouts inspired by that book; but I am really looking forward to the “happy scrapping” book by Stacy Julian and Lain Ehmann that’s coming out in October!

An Ella Scraplift: I was inspired by one of Margaret Scarbrough’s layouts in Text Tricks for Scrapbookers to try this journaling-on-a-photo approach. I love how it turned out! |

In 10 years, I hope to be: Happy and healthy and essentially living the same life I do now—except with teenagers instead of gradeschoolers. I'm hoping they still like me as much then as they do now.
If I were to author an eBook, I'd title it: How to Fit Scrapbooking Into Your Very, Very Busy Life.
I've loved elephants ever since: My Grandpa Allen brought home a wooden, hand-carved elephant from his overseas travels! (I still have it.) And, I actually rode an elephant at a Bangor, Maine, state fair, where I also worked as Miss Electra.
If I were a scrapbook supply, I'd be: An idea book or an idea journal, because I'm full of ideas and love to jot down thoughts, memories, and things I want to do.
