Moon Ko, a talented simple scrapbooker and energetic Ella Friend (we bribe her with peanuts to let us sit at her lunch table), designed our Scrapbook Ellaments cover this month. Here’s what Moon has to say for herself:
My name is: Moon Ko, but I will also answer to Mom, Honey, Hey You, and The Asian Sensation. Okay, so no one's ever called me the last one but you can start now. Anyone?
~Yes, we (Lain and Angie) will happily volunteer to be the first to call you that, as long as you’ll call us the Mexican-American Sensation and The British-Isles-Melting-Pot Sensation, respectively.
My family is made up of: my husband Richard of 16 years, my daughters Madeline (age 8) and Katie (age 6) and “the boy” Charlie (age 22 months).
I spend my days: wrangling the boy and counting down the minutes until his nap.
I never thought I'd: be a mother to three kids. Most days I look at them and think, “Wow, I am so lucky and blessed to have these three amazing, happy and healthy kids that bring me more joy than one person should be allowed!” Then on other days I look at my kids and think, “Will they EVER learn to flush the toilet and put their dirty socks IN the hamper and not beside it?”
~Speaking with the voice of experience, having children ages 15, 11, 9, and 5 between us, the answer is “NO!”
My cover layout was inspired by: the photo of my daughters and niece taken last fall on Charlie's first birthday.
I'd describe my scrapbooking style as: simple, bold, humorous, and real.
If I could go back in time, I would: totally put a rift in the space/time continuum. I don't think my 3-year-old-self could handle seeing my adult self without some major repercussions. Can you tell I've read The Time Traveler's Wife recently?
~Lain’s verdict on The Time Traveler’s Wife: “It’s in my top ten books of all time!” Angie’s verdict: “If I had it to read over again, I’d read the phone book instead.”
If I were to author an eBook, I'd title it: Keepin' It Real: real journaling for real people.
People are always surprised to find out that I: am not a hippie (you know, with a name like Moon), although my last year of college is still questionable.
In 10 years, I hope to be: wiser. And more organized. And able to finally write in complete sentences. Maybe.
~Complete sentences? Overrated.
If I could be a scrapbook supply, I'd like to be: Thickers. Everyone loves Thickers. They're dimensional. They have depth. They’re a girl-next-door kind of product that no one tires of.
My favorite Ella eBook is: Text Tricks for Scrapbookers.
