Wondering how to stretch your scrapbook supplies and create stunning layouts? You're in the right place.
In the July issue of our Scrapbook Ellaments eZine, we announced an amazing ongoing contest based on our eBook Eight is Enough: Easy ways to stretch supplies and use leftovers by April Foster and Studio Calico. If you don't have the eBook yet, first of all BUY IT HERE or check out Celeste Smith's article. (Details for how you can enter at the end of this post!)

You may have noticed that in this "ongoing contest," we haven't awarded a winner for several months. Three to be exact. There's just one person to blame for that:
Keira Jane Lucas. See, doesn't she look guilty? Actually, it's her mom's fault, since she's still learning how to balance baby and business (and baby takes priority). But we thought you'd be more apt to forgive this cute little face. :)
So, back to the contest. Today we're proud to be announcing October's winner. Tomorrow will be November's winner. And Friday, we'll showcase December's winner. January's winner will come later in the month! (Note: see August's winner by clicking here and September's winner by clicking here.) Every month, as we select a new winner, we're pulling from our entire pool of entries. So if you submitted an entry already, you could still be chosen in future months. And you have three more chances to enter and win between now and the end of March!
And today's winner is...(in case you didn't guess from this post's title)...Shelly Jaquet!
We were especially impressed with the fact that three of her four layouts are two-page spreads! Now that's what we call stretching your supplies. Here's her entry...
Shelly's Eight Supplies

Layout #1
"After Party" ... My first page was for my son's "after party" for his first birthday. We celebrated with some neighbors and an Aunt came by to give a gift. I had to get creative with some of my dies. I used a Christmas tree die for the banner, and the circle opening on the tag is from a letter.

Layout #2
"October" (2006)... My second page was a month catch up page. When my daughter was born in April of 2006, my scrapbooking took a little break. I am currently having fun looking back and documenting those fun memories.

Layout #3
"Visitors" ... My third page, I wanted to document the visitors that came while in the hospital after the birth of my son. I really debated between a single page and a double page, ultimately falling on a double. The circles on the tags are flower centers. The embossed cardstock was done by using a circle die and a back of a pen. I really like the strips of different patterns on Studio Calico's Compilation paper, but I didn't have enough of it left to use on this layout. So, I used what I had left and cut additional strips from other patterns. Then, I stitched them together. I cut my own heart and circle for the blue tag.

Layout #4
"December" (2006) ... My fourth and final page, I hit the highlights of December. I wanted a big embellishment to go in the open space in the top left corner, so I shuffled through my unused dies to find this flower. It reminded me of a poinsettia. I cut out a circle because I didn't have a die that was the current size. Then I pushed through several brads on the button. To the get smaller flowers, I trimmed the rounded part of each petal to give it more of the poinsettia look to them.

We hereby challenge you to come up with your own list of eight items from your stash of supplies and to stretch your list into four great layouts. (Absolutely no shopping allowed.) Make sure you include a mix of papers, accents, tools, and alphabets—whether stamps, die-cuts, or stickers. You can only use the items on your list, but cardstock, fonts, and standard tools (such as trimmers, journaling pens, or a sewing machine) are freebies.
When you’re done, e-mail us pictures of all four of your layouts (each sized to 800 pixels tall maximum), plus a picture of your eight original supplies, and an explanation of how you stretched each layout, and we’ll pick one winner each month through March 2011! E-mail questions and entries to submissions@ellapublishing.com, with “Eight is Enough” in the subject line.
